My process

I wanted to post about how I create my cards. These pictures were taken with my Blackberry Curve so PLEASE excuse the quality. I will be getting a better camera soon.

Step 1:
I don’t plan what I draw, it just pops into my head.  The best way that creative ideas flow for me is by eating well, resting and meditating.  It’s difficult to sit down and purposefully churn out ideas.  I try to not really think about it too much.  If my mind is clear and I’m fully concentrating on something then something usually sneaks into my head.  I then record a short hand version of it to a sketchpad:

Step 2:
I draw the final sketch in pencil and then go over it with a Micron Pigma Pen.  I started out with 05 but I’m now partial to the brush pens.

Step 3:
Here is a drawing I did for a holiday card.  It’s on Bristol paper.

Step 4:
I’ll scan the image into photoshop and/or illustrator and play around with the colors and shapes.

Step 5.
I also check the colors CMYK numbers against the swatches to see how they look.

This is what I do for now.  It may continue to evolve as time goes on 🙂
